Lego Fun Layout

Hello Everybody!

Since there is a 5th Tuesday in July-something special happens at Stick It Down!  You can choose any layout (single page, double page, or a card) sketch this week!

I chose to do a single page sketch.

I used papers and lego stickers from a scrapbook kit I bought when we were at the theme park.  The title has letters from doodlebug and brads from paper pizzazz.

I pop dotted some of the legos here.  This was a whole sheet of yellow bricks, and I thought it would be cool to make a frame out of it.  I punched a red file tab on the side also.

Here is the original sketch:

We can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time my friends...have a wonderful day! :)

Favorite Things Friday--Patterns

Hello Everybody!

It's time for another Favorite Things Friday at Scrap It Girl!  It's so much fun to see what other people love and what they use!

This week it is patterns.  Do you like polka dots or stripes?  Do you like chevrons or flowers?

I love text!  So I am immediately drawn to paper if there are some typed out words on it.  I also really like dictionary paper.  :)

Stop by Scrap It Girl and share with us your favorite pattern!  Remember we are still doing our Red, Navy, Kraft, and Cream challenge

Until next time my friends...have a great weekend! :)

Beach Frame

Hello Everybody!

I am super excited to show you my project for the Great Impressions Blog.  This week we are showing you fun summery creations that you can use your stamps for!

I used 3 stamps to make this beach frame.  They are: F549 Hot Air Balloon, D421 Lucky Enough, D404 Blowing Bubbles.  You can find these and other awesome stamps at the Great Impressions Online Store!

This is how the frame started.  It's a paper mache frame from Joann's.  I didn't take any pictures of how I did the background.  I used Distress Paints Broken China and Salty Ocean over the whole frame.  Then I made sand.  I used Tim Holt'z technique here to make it.  I substituted a couple of items on the recipe-due to brands.  But if it said glitter I used glitter.  However, I did use the antique lined distress embossing powder because that is a main component in the sand making.

I stamped the hot air balloon on acrylic with Ranger's Archival Ink.  I cut out the balloon and one of the clouds.  I wanted you to see the the difference between the original stamp and the parts that I used.

I also stamped the balloon on white cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I cut out the balloon and the basket.

Here is the balloon on the frame.  I used pop dots under the paper parts.  I also have one of the clouds that I colored with a Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen-white.  It dried nicely on the acrylic!  Yay! :)

Here is this super cute crab blowing bubbles!  I colored him with Copics and used salty ocean and scattered straw distress ink in the background.  I used Stickles on his bubble and when those were dry, I fussy cut him out of the cardstock and covered him with Glossy Accents.  The other bubbles are from a Heidi Swapp stencil, transparent embossing paste (by Wendy Vecchi) and some Stampin' Up glitter sprinkled on top.

I would like to submit this beachy frame to the Simon Says Stamp: A Mid-Summer's Challenge.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...time to get my toes in the sand! :)

A Tale of Two Baskets

Hello Everybody!

Happy Monday!  Today it's my turn show you fun things that you can do with your Unique Laser Designs embellishments.  For more information on the project below check out the Unique Laser Designs Blog!

These are two little baskets that I bought at the thrift store for 50 cents each!  The funny thing is that I bought one in March.  And this past weekend I bought the second one at the same thrift store!

I added gesso to each basket.  Lookin' good already!

I used the daisy, tweety bird, and bird cage on one basket.  And I used the gears from Gears Set C on the other basket.

So here are the baskets completely finished!  But wait--how did I get from the gesso to here?  That is where you will have to go here my friends.  I show you how I painted each basket-and there are close ups too!

Thanks for stopping by!  If you are inspired to make baskets be sure to leave me a link!  I would love to see them!

Until next time my friends...hopefully it's the best of times! :)

Cute Cowboy

Hello Everybody!

I am so excited to be apart of the House of Cards Team!  Each week we showcase a different style-but we all have the same challenge.  Personally, I love to see the different takes on challenges.  Everyone is so creative!

The challenge is to use a bow or more.  I am on the Cute and Fun Team.  So for my Cute card, I used this super cute Cowboy set from Stampin' Up that a friend of mine gave me (awesomeness!).

I used a shattered kraft core cardstock by Tim Holtz for the background.  I used Copic Markers for the coloring.  For the inking around the image and sentiment I used spiced marmalade and faded blue jeans distress inks.  The twine is from Queen and Company.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope that you will play along.  We would love to see you cards with bows! :)

Until next time my friends...have a good day partner! :)

Favorite Things Friday--Embellishments!

Hello Everybody!

It is Favorite Things Friday at Scrap It Girl.  Today we are talking about our Favorite Embellishments!  I have so many things...what could I possibly choose?

I love all things Tim Holtz.  If you have seen some of my projects, you aren't surprised by this.  ;)

But I decided I would choose 1 embellishment.  I would think past the flowers, buttons, metal, bingo markers--etc.  My one favorite embellishment are these Mirrored Stars (by Mr. Tim).  You can use alcohol inks and make them different colors.  However, I love them in there normal state.  They seem to dress up any project but don't over do it.  I love them.  :)  This is my 2nd box.  I usually buy just one of something and hoard it (like the photo above) but these I have to use.  So use them--they'll make more! ;)  (that used to be a doritoes commercial)

Thanks for stopping by!  We would love to see what your favorite embellies are.  So stop on by Scrap It Girl and link up today! :)

Until next time my friends...keep reaching for the stars!

Vintage Fun Thank you

Hello Everybody!

Happy Friday!  Today I am sharing with you a card I made using my fun stamps from Great Impressions.

Here is the distressed background stamp (love it!!).  I used Tim Holtz's distress inks for this card.  So here I used antique linen and then used the stamped with walnut ink.  I used black soot around the edges.  The paper was a beige color to start with.

This picture shows the antique linen better.  Then I stamped the simple elegance stamp.  I used black soot but I stamped it on a different paper and used the 2nd stamping here.  At the top is a Tim Holtz mini paper clip.  The cord at the bottom came from a collection called Designer Threads.

If you see the Tags stamp, you will see that it is inside a flag.  I cut out each word then drew a box around each word.  I glued the words onto this Tim Holtz tag and added blackcard stock in the background.  I had to add a dot of glue to the know of the thread that I tied the tag with.  I don't want the tag to fall off!

For the collage stamp I used black embossing powder on a darker beige colored cardstock.  Then I used peacock feathers, dust concord, and picked raspberry  lightly on the image.  I stamped the image again ink black ink and colored it in the same colors.  I cut out the stamp with the lady's face and covered it with Glossy Accents.  I seem to have rediscovered the epoxy sticker thing and have totally embraced it.  :)  I used pop dots underneath it.

Here is a closeup picture.  The notes are from a Darice embossing folder and Coredinations paper where I sanded off the darker layer to reveal the lighter layer.  I also used Tim H.'s film strip and a piece of his pattern paper behind the main collage.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  For more inspiration check out our Blog!  And don't forget to check out our Monthly Challenge!

Until next time my friends...have a great weekend! :)

Glow in the Dark Dinos

Hello Everybody!

It's my turn over at the Unique Laser Designs Blog to show you something fun you can do with their wood embellishments.  Are you ready?  ;)

I took an IKEA frame and decorated it with light modeling paste and these CUTE dinosaurs.

I used Lime Lime and Green Tea Gelatos mixed with the paste and a stencil from Dylusions.

The dinos will go in the spaces.  And I finish that corner too! ;)

Here are the dinosaurs in the various stages: top-natural wood, middle-gessoed, and the last one is painted with salty ocean distress paint from Tim Holtz.

Here are the other two painted with crushed olive and spiced marmalade distress paint.

Next I used Sparkle N Sprinkle's Glow in the Dark Embossing Powder for each dinosaur.  I used Versamark, covered, and heated like regular embossing powder.  I did this process twice to make sure there the whole dinosaur glowed.

So here is the frame when the lights are on...

And off...

Isn't that so cool!!  The shapes are so awesome that there is no denying those are dinosaurs!

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...Roar! ;)

Science Time Layout

Hello Everybody!

I am so happy to get to share my first post with you as a member of the Stick It Down Team!  These are great sketches and lots of wonderful inspiration from the DT.  I hope you will be able to join in as well!

Here is this week's sketch created by Brenshevia.

Here is my layout using this sketch.  I was inspired by the challenge at Child's Play Challenges: Classic Craft Colorforms.

It was a while ago since I played with Colorforms but I remember having them.  I am pretty sure I had Sesame Street ones.  So we went to an exhibit at the Science Museum where Sesame Street characters taught us about parts of the body.

As I gathered things together, I found these vinyl pieces that I know I have had forever.

Here's the box of them.  I bought them discounted from Target.

Here is a close up of the banner.  These are chipboard pieces from Maya Road.  The twine is from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Here's the journaling.  The papers are from Creating Keepsakes.  They are bright and cheery just like Colorforms! :)

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope to see your layout soon!  Until next time my friends...Sunny days keep the clouds away! :)

Cute Lil' Hedgehog

Hello Everybody!

Here is a card I made using Great Impressions stamps.  I used this cute Snoozing Hedgehog Stamp F557 and the sentiment is Happy Summer Days B213.

I used light modeling paste and a Tim Holtz sunburst stencil.  I don't know if you know it's a sun but if not the angled lines still look cool.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...join us at the Great Impressions Challenge: Animals!  See you then! :)

Sky's the Limit!

Hello Everybody!

I have such a fun project to show ya'll today!  It's my turn over at the Unique Laser Designs Blog.  I have the full tutorial of how I made this wall hanging so check it out.  :)

Now let me be honest with you guys.  I had something else I was working on.  And then I sometimes get distracted by the Internet.  So I'm looking at the different challenges going on.  Later on on Monday it hits me what I should do.  So my original project I put aside-and started this one at once!

Here are the 2 challenges that inspired me:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Start from Scratch --This wall hanging is built using Unique Laser Design Products

Inkspirational--Challenge 60  Photo--I love this painting.  I haven't seen it before but it stuck and wouldn't let go!  My inspiration was the hot air balloon.

The pieces you see here are what I used to make my all hanging.  They are all from Unique Design Laser Store.  I used ATC's, hot air balloon, clouds, and open window.

I used gloss gel medium to glue the ATCs to each.  I used this because it is seems strong and I can wipe the excess off so the panel is smooth.  (I use hot glue but I am terribly afraid of getting burned!)  LOL

I gessoed all of my pieces except the window.

This window is just so cool.  It looks 3-D but it is totally flat.  And it has lines engraved in it for added interest, and I don't like to cover that up.  So I used distress walnut stain on it.  And I did not like it at all.  So how to fix it?  I put some Time Holtz distress picket fence paint on my craft mat and blotted it on using my finger.  You can see the left side is just stain and the right is with some paint dabbed on.  It looked a little shabby shic so I went with it.  ;)

For the balloon I used Tim's Distress Paints: mustard seed and spiced marmalade.  The basket is with walnut stain and a little crushed olive on the zig zag.  I covered it with perfect pearls perfect gold and a little water.

I used faded dots and bubble Tim Holtz stencils on the clouds.  I used Martha Stewart white texture on them.  I had to add water to it so the smaller cloud came out a little different then maybe it should have.  But I love it!

For the background I used Tim Holtz distress paints: chipped sapphire, salty ocean, and broken china.  Using a Ranger applicator I pounced the paint on from lightest to darkest and then filled it.

Then I used a text background stamp (LOVE)  that I bought at the Scrapbook Expo.  It's from Rubbernecker and it's the Best of Times (Charles Dickens) stamp.

I used a Tim Holtz sunshine stamp and mustard seed at the top.  For the grass I used Tim's striped stencil with Emerald Twinkling H2Os and a little extra long the bottom.  For the stars I used Wendi Vecchi's translucent stars (so those will disappear) and Tim's star stencil.

There is an added detail to the grass.  I used these distress markers and this awesome stamp from Great Impressions Wild Flowers and stamped on the twinkling h2os.

I added my elements and some Tim Holtz Alpha Tiles at the bottom.

To make hangers on the back I used to soda tabs and hot glued them.  Then I double knotted my fancy yarn.  (Do you remember when they were called fibers? hehe)

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...the Sky's the Limit! :)
