Brown Brown Brown

Hello Everybody!

Today's Favorite Things Friday at Scrap It Girl is your favorite color!  Do you have a favorite color mist or ink?

There are so many colors!  I love them all but I do always seem to incorporate one thing--brown or black.

If you don't know--I loooooove Tim Holtz and all of his creativity!  And he created Distress Ink and it is one of my main tools.  The inkier the better.  And as of right now browns and black seem to be my favorite.  :)

What's yours?  Link up here!

And remember that there are few more days to play the Birthday Challenge!

Thank you for stopping by and all of your sweet comments!  Until next time my friends--stay "In Living Color!"  ;)

The Table Layout

Hello Everybody!

It feels like it has been forever since I posted something crafty!  We had family and friends visit over the last few weeks.  So since things have quieted down I am back to scrappin'!

I didn't know what I wanted to do-but I had to do something.  So I have a handful of pictures left to scrap for my husband's birthday in 2012.

So I created this layout:

I just started diggin out paper and moustache stuff!  Here's the journaling.  (You may have to enlarge it.)  The grey strip of 'stache's are Studio G washi tape.  And I used my Going Places Cricut cartridge for the knife and fork circle.

This is a die cut from Tim Holtz.  I used brown cardstock and inked it with black ink.

The circle and moustache are both Kaiser craft wood pieces.  I used fire brick distress ink for the circle and an orange gelato for the 'stache.

I'm sorry this came out blurry.  It looked ok on the camera.  And I realllllly  wanted to post this tonight so here we go.  :)  Tim Holtz's bingo piece and ticket.  The 18 is for my hubby's birthday.  It is hard for me to use a number that does not tie into whatever I'm scrapping.  Does anyone else have this problem?  The moustache and heart are brads.

I am lucky because there are a couple of challenges that this fits into.  Usually I find the challenge first but this time I went rogue!  LOL!

Cut It Up Challenge: #41 Anything Goes with a Die Cut--The Title (Cricut Alphabet), Hand (Tim Holtz/Cuttlebug), and Fork and Knife Circle (Going Places Cricut)

And remember if you are looking for a birthday challenge--go over to Scrap It Girl and check out the details.  It runs until the end of the month! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...have a great night! :)

Favorite Things Friday-Tables and Chairs

Hello Everybody!

This week at Scrap It Girl it is time to find out where you like to sit while you craft.  Or you can share your desk.

Here is my chair:

Here is my chair and desk.  As I looked at my teammates scrappy areas I realized that I am a hoarder.  LOL!  That is stuff under my desk.  There is a space between my desk and my IKEA shelf system.  My desk makes an L shape.

My hubby built my desk-which I love.  There are cubbies everywhere and lots of filled up surface space.  ;)

Here is my shelf system.  Yeah, I am thinking there should be a show called Craft Horders-I could be the host!  And my sister used to say-You won't use all this stuff in your lifetime.  So I found that to be a challenge (why I can't give it away).  I have to use it to prove my sis wrong--Love you!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by!  Link up your space so we can see your happy place!

Until next time my friends...I have to go find something (good luck to me on that!)  ;)

Favorite Things-Refurbished Item

Hello Everybody!

Today's Friday's Favorite Things at Scrap It Girl is something refurbished in your craft room or area.  Something that is normally used for one thing but is used for something else.

My favorite refurbished thing is this old organizer.  I bought it at a thrift store for $3.  I have always wanted one but just hadn't gotten around to buying one.  And this was so much better.

Here is what it looked like before.  Original dust and everything! ;)  Usually this kind of thing is used for washers and nuts and bolts.

The drawers are ok but the handles are chipping away.  So my awesome hubby said to turn the drawers around.  I washed all of the drawers in the sink too.  Then on the other side it I hot glued buttons so that they would be the handles.

Here is the back.  I can't mount it on the wall but that is ok.  I sits on my desk with all sorts of fun little things in it.  I gessoed the outside with a couple of coats.

I loved using buttons for the fronts.  It isn't completely done yet.  It needs a better paint job.  Also, I stack other scrappy things on top of it and I thought if I didn't do that I could do some cool project on the top.  But oh well!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...what is your favorite refurbished thing in your scrapbook area?  Link up with us! :)

Favorite Adhesives!

Hello Everybody!

Today is Favorite Friday at Scrap It Girl and it's about your favorite Adhesives!

Here are mine:

Yes, I still use photo splits.  I love these things!  I love glossy accents for metal or buttons.  And the Tombo is great for buttons and gluing paper together and I find it dries just a little bit faster than the glossy accents.

So link up with us and share what your favorite adhesive is!

Until next time my friends...I'm stuck on you!  (hehe!)

Caught in Crystal

Hello Everybody!

Happy 1st Tuesday!  This month at Technique Time Tuesday we are doing a very cool technique called Caught in Crystal.

So get out your re-inkers and glitter because it will be fun!

Here is my card:

Here is a close up.  I used scattered straw distress reinker but I also included a few drops of brown Dylusions regular ink.  The first time I did this technique my ink color was broken china and too dark.  I wanted a lighter color so you could see my stamp.  I used copper colored glitter also.  I didn't stamp on the actual background paper but I like the way the design paper peaks through the acetate square.  The little brown circles are from My Minds Eye.

This is a closeup of my caught in crystal square.  I like how much depth this gives my umbrella man.  He is a little off center but you get to see so much fun background! :)

So go over and check out Mynette's video here.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time my friends...try something new! :)

To Be a Princess

Hello Everybody!

Happy March!  It's time for a new challenge at Scrap It Girl!  This month it's about Birthdays. Check out the DT's projects, too.  They have done a fantastic job with birthday cards and layouts.  I hope you join us!

Here is my layout.  I was in a mixed media mood.  :)  I have some close up pictures so I can show you what I did.

Here is my title.  I used rub-ons from Joanne's for all of it except Princess.  I used some K&Company (Tim Coffey) letters from an Aquatic range I think.  These are chipboard.

This lace is on the left hand side and it is pretty wide.  I layed it on the cardstock and applied gesso to it.  Then I took Cotton Candy Gelato and added water to it and then painted over the gesso.  I like the light color it added to the lace.

I have pages from a book that I tore out.  The original book is for an altered art book.  So I glued one of those pages to the cardstock and applied gesso so the words would come through a little bit.  Then using one of Tim Holtz's stencils I added light modeling paste.

The border punch and white flower are from Martha Stewart.  The big swirl bling is from Queen and Company.  Sequin flowers are also Martha Stewart.

Here you can see some of the dots from the light modeling paste.  I brushed a little peacock feathers here and there on them.  Peacock Feathers was a perfect match to the cake in the picture.  Crazy!  Here is a key.  And some of the sunshine rays from a Tim Holtz stencil and peacock feathers.

Here's a close up of the picture.  My husband was able to get me this cake after we worked a Food and Wine party at Epcot.  (I will scrap that story at a later time.  Long story-short)  It was my birthday and the party itself is truly a treat.  Then there is an after party for Chefs and those who work the party.  So we went and then out comes this beautiful cake.  I was so surprised!  Cinderella is my favorite princess so this was very magical to me! :)  And here she is in white chocolate!

I am submitting this to the Paste Challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.  I used light modeling paste on with the bubble wrap Tim Holtz Stencil.

Here is what is funny too-this is the first time I used this sunburst stencil from Tim Holtz.  I was looking at things on the ol' internet and realized that I was inspired (subconsciously) by Kimberly's layout for February.  How fun is that!  :)

So Happy Birthday to me!  LOL  :)  I can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time my friends...time for cake!
