My Favorite Things Friday

Hey Everybody!

It's time for My Favorite Things at Scrap It Girl.  This time it's about what do you listen to while you scrap or create?  Do you watch TV or listen to music?

I used to watch TV but I realized that I watched more TV than I got creative things done.  Now my laptop sits on my desk and I use Spotify to play music.  But now I do more computer things-LOL than creative things I think!

Here is a sample of songs I like on Spotify.  I like Pop music and the more the beat the better.  I do like some slower stuff though.  Lorde is one of my favorites right now and I can never go wrong with Lady Gaga.  And Macklemore and Ryan Lewis--like I said this is just a sample.  And Let It go is from the Frozen soundtrack.  :)

What do you like to listen too?  Link up with us so we can be sure to see you preferences!

Until next time my friends...time to pick out another song! ;)

Favorite Snack

Hello Everybody!

At Scrap It Girl the Favorite Thing is Favorite Crafty Snack and Drink.  You can tell by my picture that I am pretty much a Junk Food Junkie!  LOL!  I love sweet tea (I really love Coca-Cola but in recent years it doesn't love me as much!).  And I love candy and chips and all things not good for you.  I would love to say strawberries and grapes-and I like those things and eat them because they are healthy-they aren't my favorites.  :(  And I don't want to lie ;)

So come on over and see what the rest of the team likes to snack on!  And then share with us your favorite scrappy snack! :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...are you gonna eat that?  (haha!)

Valentine Fairy

Hello Everybody,

I did it!  I got all 16 of my cards made and mailed out today.  My motto-a late Valentine is better than no Valentine at all.  LOL  ;)

Here is one that I made that I just adore.  This little fairy is from Bugaboo Stamps and I love her!

I colored her with Copics.  I used a glitter glue and painted the wings with it so I could put glitter on them.  It doesn't look like you can see the glitter in the picture-but it's there!  The heart papers is from Recollections.  I pop dotted the heart, too.

This is a variation that I wanted to show ya'll with the fairy with different shoes and dress.  So fun!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...Happy Valentine's Day! :)

Sand Castle

Hello Everybody!

There is an awesome new sketch this week at Let's Get Sketchy.   Also, Walgreens is having a sale this week on prints-so I have new things to scrap as I totally got some new photos!  I didn't need them per se but it is always fun to get prints in this digital age! ;)

For this layout I used mostly Echo Park A Perfect Summer by Lori Whitlock.  The stickers, letters, background paper, etc came from Echo Park except for the middle cloud panel.  That is from Elise and it is that material paper with the adhesive backing.  Do you know what the copyright year is-2006.  Yikes!  I've had it for a while (even if I got it in 2007 or 2008!)  LOL!

Here is the sketch:

Here are closeups to different part of the page.  I did forget to mention my Kaiser pearls and bling.

This didn't do too much journaling on this page but that is ok.  I have more beach pics from this day.  I can always make it up somewhere else right? ;)

The next two pictures show hot air balloons that I fussy cut from on of the papers.

The cherries paper here is actually from the Echo Park label that runs across the bottom of the paper.  The chevrons are stickers from the included sticker sheet.

I pop dotted a couple of the balloons, too.

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...think nice warm beach! ;)

Crackle Heart Valentine

Hello Everybody,

Whew!  I am on a posting frenzy!  LOL!  This is the last one for now.  I gotta go make some more Valentine's after this one.

I used Tim Holtz's stencils and Heidi Swapp's chevron stencil.  For Tim's I used ink but for Heidi's I used light molding paste and some picked raspberry distress paint.

The heart is a white chipboard heart from a pack that I got many many moons ago.  Side story-my husband, me and our son were painting birdhouses.  And my son squirts out way too much pink.  So I got out these hearts and started painting the hearts.  I knew Valentine's was on the way and the paint didn't go to waste.  Then I applied Tim Holtz's clear crackle paint over it.  Then I pop dotted the heart.

I see this mixed media and messy clusters on scrapbook pages-which I love.  So I am trying to do that with my cards too.  :)  Lot's of fun!

I am going to submit this to the following challenges:

As always-thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends....have a good day! :)

Moustache Valentine

Hello Everybody,

I wanted to do something different with one of my Valentine's Day cards.  And here I think I did it-LOL.

I wanted to use moustaches.  And I wanted to use pink and hearts--It's a mash up!  LOL.  So I had some old paper from one of those stacks at Joanne's.  And I embossed a white panel with my moustache embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  The hearts are from Cuttlebug (those thin dies from way back when) and the Tim Holtz moustache.

I am linking this card to the following challenge:

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...what kind of mash up have you done? ;)

Valentine's Fun

Hello Everybody!

I just love how this card turned out!  This is a Bugaboo Digi (I love their stick people!)  The background was done using the Shaving Cream Technique over at Technique Time Tuesday.  It was one of the first "prints" I had done and it isn't very swirly.  But for this card it is awesome because I wanted it to be a background.  That I covered with gesso and a Heidi Swapp chevron stencil.  :)  I usually use light modeling paste but I have seen folks using gesso and wanted to give it a try.

The red ink in the background and around the happy little Valentine girl is from Close to My Heart-Holiday Red.  I love this color!  It is so happy and bright.  I used a Tim Holtz applicator to put it around the square so I didn't have to worry with matching colors.  And I pop dotted the focal image.

I am submitting this to the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...more pink and red ;)

Queen of Hearts

Hello Everybody!

***I won a prize at {Pinspirational} for this card. Thank you!**

I feel like I have been MIA but I'm not-I have been working on my Valentine's.  It's Friday-I hope to have them in the mail by Wednesday! LOL!

Here is one Valentine's Day card featuring the Queen of Hearts from Disney's Alice in Wonderland.  I used my Cricut machine to make her.  I had to use white cardstock for her skin and colored it with Copics.

The hearts are from the same cartridge Disney Classics and actually the same page.  I really like them and might cut some more.  Her eyes look a little funny because of how they get cut out.  But don't mind them haha!

Here is a side ways version.  I pop dotted the Queen over the hearts.  I used a swirl (Old Stephanie Bernard stamp) at the bottom.  The paper is from Pink Paisley-Cottage Farms.

The inspiration for this card came from the the challenge at {Pin}spirational Challenge.  It's this picture:

I am also linking this card up to Cut It Up: #38 Valentine's Day.

There are so many things you could do for this--books, use the colors like for a Christmas card, etc.  I chose to dive into the Alice book and take out a character.  :)

--Remember if you are making Valentine's Day things with Hearts you can link up to the Scrap It Girl Challenge too! :)

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...time for more pink and red! :)

Favorite Things-Journal

Hello Everybody!

It's Friday and it's time for Favorite Things at Scrap It Girl.  This time it is for a favorite journal or notebook.  So here is mine--and before you say "boring" I have a short story about it--LOL!

Many moons ago my step-sister gave me this journal.  I can't remember when exactly but I know I wasn't writing down profound thoughts or anything at the time.  I did think it was really nice.  It's a black leather journal with gold edges.  Actually too nice for me!  Haha!

But I kept it because "you just never know."  And after my soon was born, I realized that I wanted to write down fleeting moments.  And that is when this journal came in.  Now I'm not a great journaler (which can be a problem sometimes when I do scrapbook pages) but I try.  This book starts on Jan 6 2010 and  my son was born Nov 2009 if that tells you anything.  And right now Oct 16th 2013 is the last entry.

It's halfway filled so at this rate he will be 8 before it's full.  LOL  So I better start writing!

I have some composition books that I have decorated but as far as my favorite--this is it.  And it was given to me by my step-sister which makes it that much more special.  :)

Thank you for stopping by and if you read this-thank you even more!  :)  Until next time friends...please stop by Scrap It Girl and share your favorite notebook or journal. :)

Good Clean Fun!

Hello Everybody!

I am so excited about this month's challenge at Technique Time Tuesday!  It is the shaving cream technique and it is really cool.

There are instructions on the site.  Initially, I used re-inkers in the shaving cream and made a bunch of "prints."  So I thought about how to construct my card--but then today I went back to look a the tutorial and it said to use sprays.  Sprays!  That totally changed everything.  So for this I used a blue Dylusions spray and such a difference than if you use the re-inkers.

I swirled some but not all of the color.  I like the color drops.  Then I used light modeling paste and a Tim Holtz stencil.  I used a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp and pop dotted it.  Then I glued down some silver sequins.

Now if you look closely you will see that the paste is a little brown in parts.  That is because I have a serious problem cleaning my stencils!  LOL  Of course I didn't realize it until it was too late but I am pretty sure it was walnut ink distress ink on my stencil.  It was too late but instead of scrapping it, I embraced it.  I like that it kind of breaks up the blue and white.

I do hope you come and join us for this fun technique.  You can get your kids to do it too.  Instead of re-inkers or sprays you can use food coloring.  :)

Until next time my friends...embrace the imperfection!

Hearts for My Valentine

Hello Everybody!

The February Challenge at Scrap It Girl is Hearts.  So I made a Valentine's Day card-inspired by Tim Holtz.

On his January tag Tim used Distress paint on an embossed foil covered piece of grunge board.  (Did you get all that?) ;)  So that is how I made my heart.

I put a piece of foil tape over a piece of grunge paper (it's thinner than the board).  I used the heart part from the Love Struck die.  Then I embossed it with my candy hearts die from Cuttlebug.

I used picked raspberry and picket fence distress paints and worked it into the heart.  Then I used a paper towel to remove the extra paint.

I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and light modeling paste for the chevrons behind the heart.  Then I stamped the sentiment with silver ink.  The stamp is an old KI stamp.  I pop dotted the heart.

Here's a close up:

Go over to Scrap It Girl and see the prize she is offering.  The prizes are awesome (I have won a couple and can personally tell you!)  Here is a picture:

Yeah-all of that!  And the designers vote on the entries-it isn't a random draw.  You get to entries.  So get your heart projects together and come and play!  You won't know unless you try! :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends....what will you make with your hearts?
