Not one of my best...

Hello Everybody,

So I made my Tim Holtz tag-but it's not pretty.  I used Liquitex light modeling paste instead of the embossing paste but it seemed to work.  You can find Tim's pretty tag here and the directions for it.  :)

I swear I read each direction twice!  LOL.  My colors are all off.  The ribbon came out good!

I used a fragment charm and put a letter sticker on a piece of printed book paper.  Then I outlined it with the technique that Tim showed.  I glued it and I like how it came out.

Here are my words.

I don't have Tim's stencils yet so I used a Dylusional one for the paste.  The others were Crafters workshops and Heidi Swapp.

I am a bit embarrassed to submit this anywhere for anybody to see.  But I have to because there will be a new tag tomorrow.  I can't get behind!

Thanks for stopping by.  Sorry I couldn't pull it together better.  Until next time my friends... :)

An Easter Layout....

Hello Everybody!

Here's an Easter Layout that I just finished.  It is for a challenge at Let's Scrap where you had to use 3 pattern papers, rub-ons, 2 different washi tapes, a die cut, and bling.

Here is my die cut.  It's a Tim Holtz bunny that I cut out of kraft paper and tacky tape (from Sparkle N Sprinkle).  I used dark brown flock from Sparkle N Sprinkle also.  He's so soft!

Here's the journaling.  The bling is from Making Memories and here I layered two of the squares.

The rub-ons are from Basic Grey and 7 Gypsies.  The year and the little design at the bottom and on the left are rub-ons.  All of the paper here is from Pink Paisley (Indigo Bleu).  And then I went crazy with vintage photo distress ink.  LOL.

I used tea dye distress stain on the yellow ric rac.  The rabbit sticker is Tim's also.  The flower trim is Tim's that I stained with stormy sky.  That's a great match for this paper!  I have more paper so I will be able to make some more custom embellies! :)

The washi tape is on the left.  Also is a bottle cap chip board from Basic Grey.

I am also submitting this to the Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp-Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...what are you working on? :)

My Favorite Color Green

Hello Everybody!

I made this fun green card for a few challenges.  There was some awesome inspiration that sparked this creation! :)

The first bit of inspiration came from The Alley Ways Stamps Photo Inspiration Be Inspired #37.  I love this green color!  I call it candy apple green and it's one of my accents in my scrapbook room.  So this color makes me happy!

The other inspiration came from Inkspirational's Case Inkspiration Challenge #38.

I took the strips of Coredinations Grassroots green cardstock and embossed them with different folders.  This was the first time I used my mustache folder.  Yay!  The end strip is from a Tim Holtz bingo card folder.  I like the way it says GO.  :)  Underneath the green strips is the white cardstock of the card that I changed to mustard seed using distress ink.

Instead of a circle I used a stamp and sentiment from the Doodleframes set from The Alley Way.  This is such a fun set.  I saw one of their DT's use this set-and I was like I have that set!  Thanks for the extra inspiration! :) I also stamped this on white cardstock that was colored with mustard seed distress ink.

I embossed the the frame and sentiment with an embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  It's called Spring Willow and it is a cosmic semi-trans.  The cosmic is for glittery goodness it adds! :)

Then I added a yellow ribbon I had from my stash.

It's Stamptember at Simon Says Stamp this month.  I am also entering my card in the Wednesday Challenge which is to use something that they sell at Simon Says Stamp.  They sell the Doodle Frames stamp set and the Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  They have a fabulous selection-so go check them out! :)

Thanks for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...keep craftin'! :)

Butterfly Inspiration

Hello Everybody!

Don't you love it when you experiment and you like it?  You take that 50/50 chance.  It could turn out great....or another file for the trash bin.

Well between last night and this morning I took a chance on a technique I wanted to try.  And I think it worked.  I think ;)

Here's my card:

I used The Crafter's Workshop stencil Elevator Gate and Light Modeling Paste by Liquitex.  Here is TCW's picture of the stencil:

It's a little hard to look at but it produces beautiful results!  So I used the paste over my white card stock panel.  Then I took a flower stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Stamp Set 429 Blossoms and stamped it into the bottom part of the modeling paste.  It's a crazy effect.

I let it dry over night.  I wasn't so sure about it.  Then this morning I took a little broken china distress paint and watered it down with a water brush and painted the sky.  That seems to look pretty cool.  For the flower centers I used Close to My Heart Sunny Yellow Re-Inker which I also diluted with water.  Once those centers were painted I fell in love-or like anyways with the little scene I had created.

The butterfly die is from Cheery Lynn Designs.  Here is a side view of the card.  I think the shadow from the butterfly is cool. :)  Also, I inked the edges of the card with Dusty Concorde distress ink.  It needs just a little definition.

All of this wouldn't be possible without the wonderful inspirational photo at Inkspirational Challenges #37-photo inkspiration.  Yay! :)

Until next time my friends...what techniques are you waiting to try?

The Beat Goes On...

Hello Everybody!

Hope everyone out there is having a good week.  It is Friday the 13th-Boo!  ;)  Usually my bad luck doesn't discriminate on what day it is-LOL :)

So I have been in a little funk lately.  Don't you hate that?  Everything just seems sorta meh.  But I am hoping to get out of this little funk after I made this tag.

DragonsDream-Tag it On has a challenge going on right now using blue, music, and tissue paper/tape.  Also, at Simon Says Stamp and Show-this week's challenge is to emboss.  Lastly, at Frilly and Funkie the challenge is Anything Goes!

The first thing I did was brayer distress stain and some distress paint onto my tag.  I haven't done that before and thought now would be the perfect time!  And then I roughed up the edges.  I used a little black soot distress ink around the edges.  And then it sat on my desk for like a week.

I kept checking to see when the challenge ended because it felt like forever before I could commit something to this little blue canvas.

So after looking at the Simon Says embossing examples and a couple of fabulous tutorials--things started to come together!  Also, there is a song by Eminem that he sings called "Lose Yourself."  Everytime I thought about this tag, the one line And the Beat Goes on... kept singing in my head.

I used a stamp from one of Tim Holtz's collections and embossed it with silver embossing powder.  And then the word awesome is from Little Yellow Bicycle (a few years ago) and I embossed it with platinum embossing powder from Ranger.  I tore and distressed some musical paper from 7 Gypsies.  And the ribbon is tissue tape from Tim that I distressed with peacock feathers and faded blue jeans distress inks.  And last but not least the umbrella man die cut :)

Here's a closeup.

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...remember the beat ;)

Tonight I am submitting a scrapbook page for the sketch challenge at Let's Get Sketchy.  My mom-in-law make scrapbook pages as gifts for each other.  I am a tad bit late but here is my page to her.

Here is the journaling-written in chick scratch font ;)  My stamp got a little heavy here toward the end, but what can you do?  I could have covered it up-but I decided to just go with it.

Here is the sketch.  I just love it!  There is still time to play-so come on over!

Supplies:
Papers: My Mind's Eye, Crate Paper, KI paper (tickets), Bella Blvd
Embellies: Martha Stewart flowers, rinestones, American Crafts (2 glitter flower centers, glitter flower)
Letters: Making Memories

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends-is there a relative you wish they had a holiday for?

A Moving Card

Hello Everybody!

Tonight I made a card for the challenge going on at Inkspirational.  It's for my sister who moved not too long ago.  My mom-in-law was sweet enough to lend me the Beyond Celebrations Cricut Cartridge to use this image on it.  But I didn't really have the mojo until I saw the color combo challenge at Inkspirational.

I am also entering this card in the Anything Goes Challenge at Catch the Bug.

It's a simple card but fun to make.  I cut the first image out of white cardstock and then the second image which was a shadow out of black cardstock.

Here's the cool part-I colored them with gelatos.  All 3 colors came from the 50's diner set.  And I just rubbed the gelatos with my finger.  No water.  I like how the edge around the card turned out.  Maybe next time I will add a bit more color.  I was trying not to over do it-which I am more that capable of doing-LOL!  The letter stickers are from Dear Lizzy.

Here are the colors.  And there is still time to play along-this challenge closes Monday evening some time.

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...stay crafty! :)

Time For Lemonade!

Hello Everybody!

I made a page for a challenge going on at Let's Get Sketchy (Sept Week 1 ).  The sketch is great so be sure to go check it out.

The background paper is from DCWV-the Doodlin' Around Stack.  I have had it for a little while (like over 6 months) and can you believe this is the first time I have used it?  The page is glittery on the outside of the circle.  I used a green paper and a red with white polka dot paper and a yellow and green cardstocks.  The title is from rub-ons from Reminisce.

I used a swirl embossing folder on the 2 yellow panels.  I used Tim Holtz's bird and cage and vintage circle die cuts.  For the bird I covered it in Turquoise Stickles.  Also, I used the Martha Stewart butterfly punch for a piece of yellow cardstock.

The yellow flower trim is making memories and then underneath it I used a Fiskars border punch on a piece of green cardstock.  I am so happy that I used so many die cuts and punches.  Yay!

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...lemonade does sound delicious right about now! ;)

Knock Knock

Who is it?

Hello Everybody!

It's me! I am sharing a layout I did for a challenge at Let's Scrap.  It is one of three for a group called Use Our Stash.  I tried to use all sorts of stickers and goodies on this layout.  I got to use my hexagon punch too!  Yay!

The original sketch had bigger hexagons so I improvised and just added more in.  Which was good because I used all sorts of stickers and papers.  I even used a halloween bottlecap that I bought off of Ebay a million moons ago.  The photos corners are actually from a bling bat.  When I peeled that bat from the backing it did not keep its shape and was a mess.  So I cut it up and reused it for photo corners.

Oh and on the second page there is a hexagon with red spots.  Those are from Martha Stewart-they are blood spots.  I try not to make anything too scary but this is the first time I used them.  They just crack me up! :)

Here is the journaling.  The black tape is washi tape which was also part of the challenge.

Here is the sketch I used:

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...Candy time is just around the corner! ;)

Faux Silk Technique

Hello Everybody!

It's the first Tuesday of September so that means it is time to learn a new technique at Technique Time Tuesday.  I really do enjoy learning these different techniques, and I hope you do too!

Mynnette has a wonderful tutorial that can be found here.  Here is my card:

I made the tissue paper panel and colored the stamped image with Copics and Spectrum Noir markers.  I mounted the panel on a piece of card stock where I colored the edges with this very cool marker from Faber-Castell.  It is a PITT artist pen blue metallic.  I colored the mermaid's tail with this marker.  The blue marker shows up darker on her tail (which is on the tissue paper) versus on the border (which is on white cardstock).

I trimmed some silver paper for the background of my card.  Then I added the black cardstock and then the blue metallic colored paper.  Lastly, I put on my faux silk panel.

This cool mermaid is from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I got it when I took a class at the Scrapbook Expo a few months ago.  The shell and this sentiment are from the same set.  I used some stickles glitter for the shell.

On the inside I stamped hello from The Alley Way Stamps.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I really hope that you try the Faux Silk Technique.  I can't wait to see your new creations!  Until next time my friends..get those stamps out! :)

Sketch Card

Hello Everybody!

Tonight I made a card for the challenge at Inkspirational this week.

Here is my card.  It's is simple.  I wanted to grunge it the sketch but that is not the way my mojo was going.  So I used a piece of scrap green bazzill cardstock that has a slight shimmer.  The sticker are from Me and My Big Ideas.  I made 1.5 inch circles on the Cricut and "colored" them with mustard seed and peacock feathers distress inks.  I added ribbon and 3 Candi's on the right.

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...have a good night! :)
